Chef Mama American Bakery & Café

Chef Mama is an American bagel bakery and café located in Rörsjöstaden/Värnhem, Malmö, Sweden. We also send freshly baked bagels and sweets to all of Sweden as one of Sweden’s first digital bakeries (since 2021).

In other words, you can order freshly baked real American NY-style bagels and cookies delivered to your door anywhere in Sweden – or come in to our café in Malmö and munch down on a filling bagel sandwich, dangerously gooey cookie, or a traditional piece of American pie (to name a few).

Chef Mama bakes all the classic flavors you love by hand (such as plain, sesame, poppy seed, everything, blueberry, and cinnamon raisin), and our Chef Mama Originals for all the adventurers out there (such as garlic, jalapeño, onion, cheese, salt, everything everything, cinnamon sugar, and dark chocolate chip). Oh, and we also do a seasonal bagel of the month flavor (subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on Insta to find out more)!

Did you know?

Chef Mama is a family business born from a Swedish-American love story, run by Chef-Mama-in-Charge Emily Fowler (who started working in an actual American bagel shop as a 16-year-old and later moved from the US to Sweden for love).

And love flows through our whole business! Because we're a small team of (mostly) Americans who all found love in Sweden, and we bake everything by hand, according to tradition, and with lots of love every day. ❤️

No orders will be sent out on 30/4 + 1/5 due to red day – next shipments go out Mon 6/5.   🤍

Orders need to be in by 8 PM (20:00) the day before you want them baked. Pre-order bake days are Tues–Sun.

Deliveries to all over Sweden (via PostNord) are sent out Monday–Wednesday

How to order bagels:

Pick a baker's dozen, half dozen or individual bagels, and then choose your flavors on the product page.

How it works:

1. You place your order

Order before 8 PM / 20:00 the day before bake days to be picked up or sent out for delivery the following day.

We will send a confirmation email that the order has been placed.

Note: During periods of high demand it might not be possible to guarantee next-day bakes, but all orders will be baked in the order they come in.

2. We bake your order

Your order will be baked fresh in the next available batch, and you will receive an email when we have started processing the order.

Remember to place your orders before 8 PM / 20:00 the night before you want it baked.

3. Your order will be sent out for delivery (Mon-Wed only) or ready for pickup

You will receive an email when the order is baked, which means it will be ready to be picked up in the bakery in Malmö, or sent out for delivery.

We recommend picking up ASAP for maximum freshness.

Deliveries to the rest of Sweden take 1-2 business days and are sent out Mon–Wed (95% of deliveries arrive the next day).

Order your freshly baked bagels now

Order your bagels and cookies for pickup in Malmö or delivery in the rest of Sweden.Delivery order deadlines for guaranteed processing the next bakeday is 8 PM the night before a bakeday (always displayed in the big red box above).For bagels, you can buy either individual bagels (some have minimum amounts), a half dozen (6 bagels), or a baker's dozen (12+1 bagels).

Baked by an American, the American Way

Kneaded by hand for just the right amount of time, boiled carefully so that they are perfectly chewy, seeded with purpose for maximum flavor, and finally baked golden with a nice and airy texture. Cut, toast (if desired), and schmear!

1. Cut

Cut the bagel in half carefully

2. Toast

Toast to a crisp in a regular toaster. Can also be eaten as is.

3. Schmear!

Emily is a mama of three hungry boys and has worked as a professional chef for 20+ years in Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Malmö. As a lover of baked goods, she makes everything with care from scratch, following the true American bagel tradition but with locally sourced Swedish ingredients.
